the waste probleM
Plastic pollution in Africa is an escalating crisis. Millions of tons of plastic are produced each year, and this figure is projected to double by 2030 due to rapid population growth and urbanization. The lack of adequate waste management systems allows much of this plastic to go unchecked, posing serious threats to wildlife, ecosystems, and the health of local communities.
Addressing this challenge requires private investment. Without it, waste management partners struggle to support the waste pickers who play a crucial role in collecting and processing plastic waste. These individuals are the unsung heroes on the front lines of this crisis, yet their work relies heavily on consistent funding.
the consequence
ELEPHANT ATTACKS AND DEATHS
Elephants attack humans when they’re in severe pain from stomach ulcers and blockages caused by ingesting plastic waste. This tragedy doesn’t stop with elephants—other wildlife, from zebras to antelope, face similar suffering. Animals mistake plastic for food, leading to slow, painful deaths that ripple through entire ecosystems
BLOCKED RIVER SYSTEMS
Plastic waste clogs vital river systems, cutting off water sources for wildlife and communities. As these waterways become blocked, stagnant water breeds disease, and contamination from plastics leaches into the soil and water, devastating ecosystems and threatening access to safe drinking wate
TOXIC FUMES
Burning plastic releases toxic dioxins and furans, which contaminate air, soil, and water. These pollutants cause severe health issues, including cancer and respiratory diseases, while poisoning ecosystems and disrupting the clean water sources vital for wildlife and communities
the mission
Create products that clean up the planet, uplift communities, and leave a footprint worth following.
Together with our collection partner, Ele-Collection, we’re removing 4kg of plastic with every product sold — protecting communities, the planet, and wildlife.
With every purchase, you’re combating plastic waste.
